FEMA has streamlined the paperwork required to file for 3-month extensions for your temporary housing needs. These 3-month extensions can last for up to 18 months and should be filed 30 days before they end to ensure you do not miss a single month.

FEMA will not build you a new home after a disaster. FEMA never has built homes and never will.

If you were told that FEMA will build you a new home when your home is 100 destroyed by a disaster that person would need to be your state Governor and no less. FEMA assistance is temporary which means up to 18 months of assistance.

FEMA IHP Notice of Maximum Amount of Assistance Under the Individuals and Households Disaster Program

FEMA has increased the amount of grant funding for all declared disasters after October 1, 2021 to $37,900 for housing assistance and $37,900 for other needs assistance. It is your responsibility to push for the maximum amounts and use the grant wisely.

What happens to the homeowners that don't pay for the NFIP Flood Insurance required by FEMA?

FEMA NFIP insurance requirement audits are done by state/local governments, not FEMA. Non-compliance may lead to loss of federal assistance, increased risk of home loss, and legal actions. Document all repair spending meticulously.

FEMA returns to In-Home Housing Inspections to determine disaster damage for financial assistance June 2022.

Was your 2020 and 2021 FEMA disaster inspection limited to exterior damage only? Did your state tell you that you do not qualify for other assistance because your FEMA inspection wasnt completed or didnt show 8,000 or more in damages to be classified?

FEMA will reinspect your home if your inspections was conducted by phone or exterior only.

Because of COVID-19 most all FEMA damage assessments completed for storm years 2020, 2021 and 2022 were conducted by phone with the homeowner uploading pictures and describing damage and possibly a FEMA inspection inspecting from the exterior of the home

Homeowners should file an appeal with FEMA if no in-home damage inspection was completed by FEMA inspectors.

FEMA is not back to performing in-home inspections of disaster homes. If your FEMA damage determination did not include an inside your home inspection you should schedule a new inspection now in 2022.
