No inspection from FEMA? Registered and reported Minor Damage but able to live in my home? Only Remote Telephone Inspection? Home Repair Funds less than actual repairs?
I registered with FEMA and reported by answering question 34. "Minor Damage but able to live in my home" with a checkmark.
I had more than $8,000 in damages and FEMA only sent $500.
My state says they will only take FEMA damage reports and will not consider my damage estimates for Hurricane Ida.
I have appealed twice with FEMA and they did two remote inspections only. They didn't ask for anything more than pictures and a video call with me showing the damages.
If any of these issues happened to you for any declared storm in 2020 and 2021 leaving you with out of pocket repair expenses and you have registered with FEMA and with the Louisiana Restore Homeowners Program please contact me to join a list of homeowners not inspected correctly by FEMA.
If you are still not able to live in your home make sure you ask your municipality for your Substantially Damage Estimate Report (SDE Report) it will be on file with your city or parish planning and zoning. If they do not know what you are talking about please send me contact information so I can call them and train them on FEMA disaster recovery processes and the SDE assessment software they all should have on at least one computer.
